The MGS Student Experience: Why Did I Choose MGS?

To begin with, it was founded in 1946, making it one of the oldest gunsmithing schools in the country. They offer a program you can work at your own pace within the course completion time. The lessons consist of hands-on projects throughout the course so you can practice what you have learned. I hope to gain a better understanding of how firearms work and how to repair most makes and models of firearms. Off the bat, there is a large support initiative to help with anything you may come across you may find difficult or have an issue understanding. Their staff are there to help.

I have decided on this gunsmithing school due to my limited knowledge of repair and detailed care. I can clean and keep the firearm in good condition, but I cannot look at it and determine what looks worn or needs to be fixed. It sounds simple, but it is not; it’s a skill needed to be developed and grown. I feel the MGS curriculum has a better understanding of how the student wants to learn and at what pace. My best advice so far? Read, re-read, and then read again. This is my best with the lessons.

I am looking forward to this challenge and I want to learn all that I can. I would like to be able to use this knowledge to start repairing firearms for others as well as for my personal use, of course. That will be a choice I will make later, but I believe this will be an enjoyable journey to embark on.
